Regis College offers online BSN to MSN, BS to MSN, RN to MSN, Post-MSN certificate and BSN to DNP programs in the following concentrations: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The program utilizes asynchronous instruction that allows students to complete their coursework on their own time, and interact with faculty and classmates through online discussion boards.
The BSN to MSN programs are comprised of 46 credits (except for the PMHNP concentration which requires 49 credits) that students complete over the course of 7 semesters of full-time study. The BS to MSN programs (for RNs who hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field) and the RN to MSN programs (for RNs who hold an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution) require 61 credits (64 credits for the PMHNP program) and can be completed in 9 semesters. These programs are identical to the BSN to MSN programs, with the addition of four bridge courses that cover certain fundamental concepts and methods within advanced practice nursing.
All of Regis College’s online MSN programs require the completion of 600 clinical practicum hours over the course of two or four semesters at a local medical facility under the supervision of a preceptor. None of these programs requires students to visit the campus during the program.
Regis College Online Family Nurse Practitioner Program
Regis College’s online Family Nurse Practitioner program prepares registered nurses to work with patients across the lifespan within the context of the family unit. Students of this program learn how to care for mothers, fathers, children, and grandparents with a consideration of family dynamics and how they impact health. Classes in the program include Evidence for Nursing Practice, Advanced Clinical Pharmacology, Health Promotion-Disease Prevention, Advanced Pathophysiology, and Primary Care of the Family I and II (both of which require the completion of 300 clinical practicum hours).
Regis College Online Adult-Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program
Regis College’s online Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner program prepares registered nurses to care for the geriatric population in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private clinics, community health centers, and hospice and palliative care centers. Classes in this program include Health Politics, Policy, and Perspectives, Advanced Clinical Pharmacology, Care of the Adult-Geriatric Client I and II (both of which require students to complete 300 clinical hours), and Sociological, Political, and Economic Perspectives in Aging.
Regis College Online Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program
Regis College’s online Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program trains RNs to work with children from infancy to adolescence, and to support pediatric patients in implementing preventative health care measures and addressing both acute and chronic health conditions. Classes in this program include Primary Care of the Child I and II (which include the completion of 300 clinical practicum hours each), Health Promotion-Disease Prevention, Advanced Clinical Pharmacology, Advanced Pharmacology, and Roles and Issues for Advance Practice Nursing.
Regis College Online Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program
Regis College’s online WHNP program focuses on the primary care of women throughout the lifespan, including the medical care of adolescent girls, childbearing and pregnant women, and women who are undergoing or have experienced menopause. Classes in this program include Care of the Childbearing Woman, Primary Care of the Woman I and II (each of these classes has a 300-hour clinical practicum requirement), Concepts in Nurse Leadership, Advanced Clinical Pharmacology, and Advanced Pathophysiology.
Regis College Online Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program
Regis College’s online PMHNP program prepares registered nurses to work in psychiatric and mental health care settings, with patients who require psychiatric medication and/or emotional and behavioral health counseling. PMHNPs are trained to understand how physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral health intersect; to evaluate the health of their patients accordingly; and to make medical and at times therapeutic recommendations to their patients in a medical environment. Regis College’s program prepares students for this kind of work through classes such as Theory and Practice of Contemporary Psychotherapies, Advanced Health Assessment, Psychiatric Mental Health Care of the Family I and II (each of these courses requires the fulfillment of 300 practicum hours), and Roles and Issues for Advanced Practice Nursing.
Admission Requirements for Regis College’s Online MSN Programs
Applicants to any of Regis College’s online BSN to MSN programs must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a CCNE or ACEN accredited institution, and hold an active and unrestricted registered nurse license in their state of residence.
Candidates for the RN to MSN programs must hold an Associate Degree in Nursing from an institution accredited by the CCNE or ACEN, while the BS to MSN programs require RNs to hold an ADN degree (CCNE or ACEN accredited) and to have completed a non-nursing bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Both tracks require applicants to hold an active and unrestricted registered nurse license in their state of residence. They must also complete the bridge courses with an overall grade of B or better before they can progress to the core MSN coursework in their concentration of choice.
No GRE is required for admission to this program. To apply, prospective students should submit an application, resume, statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts from all of their post-secondary education. Regis College’s online MSN programs do not currently accept students from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, DC, Delaware, Iowa, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington and Wisconsin.
